Director of Evaluation and Learning & Amalgamator

Sojourner White is the Director of Evaluation & Learning at UBUNTU Research & Evaluation who believes evaluation is a stimulating tool for storytelling and social change. She facilitates qualitative evaluation and strategic planning projects. With an affinity for participatory and storytelling evaluation methods, Sojourner also uses her self-taught skills in marketing and communications to blend organizational personality and community-centered voice to help them articulate their purpose and vision to those they aspire to serve. Her project areas of focus include restorative justice, racial justice, girl's education, entrepreneurship, and youth development.

This community-mindedness is something Sojourner takes no matter where she goes. Named after abolitionist and women's rights activist Sojourner Truth, Sojourner embodies both the historical and nomadic roots of her name. Though she is a Black woman who was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI, she has also called Spain and Germany home. Her adventures studying abroad in southern Spain, teaching English in Spanish wine country, and interning in Berlin, shaped Sojourner's love to learn about cultures and traditions she watched in movies and read in history books. They serve as a reminder that we all have a unique story to tell and we should have the power to tell them.

UBUNTU is space where Sojourner can embrace all facets of her multi-passionate personality. She is a skilled facilitator, evaluator, and travel writer linking connections between race, ethnicity, gender and privilege in the U.S and beyond. Thus, her words have also been seen in Travel + Leisure,USA TODAY, Insider, Lonely Planet, and more. Sojourner earned her BA in Psychology, Spanish, and Women's & Gender Studies from Bradley University and her Master's in International Social Work from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis.
